Design Assistance

Each year, West Virginia Main Street contracts with a historic preservation specialist who is responsible for overseeing any remodeling of Main Street buildings that have historical significance. Their expertise is not limited to the Capitol city; in fact, all twelve Main Street programs receive this assistance, compliments of the State of West Virginia. How does the design assistance work?
When a business (or property) owner decides to explore options for renovating the façade of their building, they contact their local Main Street program. After the application is complete, the consultant will conduct a free site visit and provide recommendations for how to preserve the historic elements of the building. It is essential the property owners follow the recommendations if they are seeking a façade grant from West Side Main Street.
